I created the Wide Open Mod
because I felt that Impossible Creatures had
a few balance issues. I called it the Wide Open Mod
because it opened up the game. Many types of units
and abilities could not be made at the low levels
originally, which meant certain strategies were hard
to counter. With the Wide Open Mod, I changed this
so that players could build almost any type of
creature earlier, allowing them to counter certain
rushes.
